Effective Event Communications

effective event communicationsEveryone knows “content is king,” but how do you create effective event communications that are relevant to your target audience (and don’t require a megaphone)?

To ensure your audience hears your message loud and clear, here are 6 effective tips to help you develop effective event communications, minus the megaphone.

Tip 1: STRATEGY
Develop an overarching strategy and theme to align your content.

Tip 2: TARGET AUDIENCE
Understanding who attends an event and what their needs are will ensure the content you develop aligns with their objectives. Ask questions like:

  • What are they looking for?
  • What are their pain points?
  • What level of buying power do they have?

Tip 3: STAKEHOLDERS
Include ALL stakeholders when developing your event approach and content. You’ll get a full picture of a broad range of internal challenges and goals, and additionally, receive buy-in—a key component of event success.

Tip 4: FOCUS
Limit your focus on a small number of products/solutions as too much information ultimately dilutes the message and confuses attendees.

Tip 5: REFINE MESSAGE
Refine your message by delivering no more than three customer-focused benefits for each product or solution you’re featuring.

Tip 6: TAKEAWAY
As events can be overwhelming environments, determine the single thought you want your audience to remember following their event experience.

In addition to WHAT your content is (and the above Tips will ensure that it's relevant), the next step is the HOW you deliver the content. Of course, video is the #1 way people like to interact with information on the net; they don't want to READ tons of information - they'd rather WATCH, LISTEN, & LEARN!
